"This was a must win game for the Lady Chiefs tonight. We hadn't played our best, most consistent ball yet, and we knew this was a team we needed to beat. We had some success inning one but ran ourselves out of the inning. I think the big story though was our defense and the pitching performance of Gracie Brinkerhoff. She had 15 strikeouts on the day. She was lights out and kept hitters off balance all day. Gave up a couple hits, but her defense held strong behind her. 1 Error on the day which is a huge improvement. I thought offensively we did a much better job eliminating the strikeouts. We only had 4, and had some nice bunts for hits late in the game. Keeping offensive pressure on teams is so important and the kids did that. Faith Callahan had a grounder squeak through the infield that plated 2 runs late, which helped solidify the win. A lot of kids stepped up today."
