Sat. Oct. 29 – MHSAA Region 18-2
It was a run through the clouds at the MHSAA Region 18 race at Milan High School with near-school record-breaking times on both the boys' and girls' sides and many personal records. The Chiefs had three All-Regional runners that placed among the top 15, qualifying for the State Finals next Saturday, November 5th at MIS. Congratulations Ryan Morris, Molly Johnston, and Avery Turk!
In the Boys Varsity D2 race, Ryan Morris finished 12th (16:17.8 PR) in the region, just five seconds off the Huron school record, received a medal, and punched his ticket to the state finals. Abdul Ghennewa was next in for the Chiefs placing 23rd (16:47.9 PR) and was one place away from being an additional qualifier. Close behind was Griffin Mentzer in 27th (16:51.8 PR), Lucas Kuhn 33rd (17:11.0), Luke Dulecki, making a show on the top 20 5K board, with a 17:12.8 PR was 34th, Samuel Stanley 54th (18:10.8 PR), and Kyle Biller 65th (18:34.8). In one of the toughest regions in the state, Huron placed 4th overall, one position away from qualifying as a team for the finals.

While the fog lifted for the JV boys’ race the course remained fast with eight Huron runners setting personal records. Evan Banas led the Chiefs placing 60th (19:05.0 PR) out of 193 runners, followed by Jacob Welch 85th (19:42.5 PR), Caiden Siggett 89th (19:52.7), Roman Whitmore 109th (20:31.3) Garrett Cheney 122nd (20:55.6 PR), Cole Druyor 124th (20:57.5), Ben Holbrook 129th (21:10.6 PR), Lucas Worrell 133rd (21:28.6), Hunter McMahan 142nd (21:45.5 PR), Noah Myshock 146th ( 21:53.9), Broderick Yensch 151st (22:18.1), Deegan Richardson 157th (22:43.5), Drew Blosser 158th (22:45.6), Jack Fisher 160th (22:49.6 PR), Cameron Stewart 161st (22:56.4 PR), Rocco Sells (23:10.1), Nathan Zakar 177th (24:20.3), and Joel Lazenby 179th (24:28.3 PR).
