The Lady Chiefs traveled to a very wet and sloppy Sandy Creek Golf Course today for their final Huron League event of the season. The Chiefs began the day in 2nd Place in the Huron League with a record of 9-4. Today was to count as a match against each Huron League team and a make-up match against Grosse Isle. The Chiefs lost to Grosse Isle 181-186 in their make-up match.
In the 18 hole tournament the Lady Chiefs posted a team score of 384.This was good enough for 4th Place losing to Riverview by 1, Grosse Isle, and an undefeated Airport team which won their first Huron League Championship. The Jets Kristen Reed was the Medalist shooting a 76 for the round.
The Lady Chiefs were led by Junior Andie Martin. Andie posted a personal best round of 83 in the sloppy conditions which was good for a 3rd Place overall and 1st Team All-Huron League Honors. Junior Anna Puschmann also shot a personal best round of 93 for the Chiefs. This was good enough for an 11th Place finish and 2nd Team All-Huron League honors. Senior Asia Riley continued her improvement carding another personal best round of 103 and Senior Hannah Arnett was not to be left out. Hannah posted her personal best round of 105 to round out the scoring. Senior Jill Chapp battled through illness to post 105 and Senior Sophia Straub managed her way to a 106. This was the best team score in an 18 hole match for the Lady Chiefs this season and it came under very difficult conditions.
The Chiefs end their Huron League schedule at 14 wins and 7 losses to earn 2nd Place for the season. The Chiefs will travel to Pine View Golf Club next Wednesday, 10/9/19 for their final tournament of the season and the first round of the MHSAA Playoffs. Good luck Lady Chiefs!!
