The Chiefs squeaked out their first win of the season beating the Jefferson Bears by a score of 35 to 33.  The win improves their record to 1-7, but more importantly eliminates the threat of going winless on the season.  Despite being outscored in the second half 21-15, the Chiefs were able to hold on to the two-point victory with a pretty well-balanced attack, which had 7 of 11 players contributing to the scoring.  Gavin Moczydlowski led the team with 13 points and dished out 4 dimes.  Derek Anderson added 6 rebound and 6 points, two of which were clutch free throws in the 4th quarter.  Rory Callahan had 9 rebounds and 5 points, while Nik Crispin (2 pts), Ethan Woolery (2 pts), Luke Coll (3 pts), and Josh Hendrix (4 pts) all added to the scoring.  Often a quiet player, Cole Roberts made the most of his playing time today with 5 solid rebounds and an assist along with Ethan, who also played solid minutes to keep the game close.  Despite going 7 for 12 at the free throw line, which is a season high, the Chiefs missed a few late free throws near the end of the game that would have put it out of reach.  Emphasis this week will be made there and also trying to improve their press.  The next game will be on Wednesday at home against the Riverview Pirates, whom the Chiefs had a 3-point loss against in the first half.  Hope to see you there.
